Often we remain silent when we need to speak. Without words, it is hard to love well. It is not always easy to express our love directly in words. But whenever we do, we discover we have offered a blessing that will be long remembered. (Henri J. M. Nouwen, Bread for the Journey, A Daybook of Wisdom and Faith)

i was watching television this evening like any other day, when i saw life transformers. Intruiged, i watched it, hoping to find out what it was abt. A mother, only 30 yrs old, had a husband who jumped to his death in front of her many yrs ago, leaving her with two hyperactive sons & no job. As they interviewed her abt how she struggled to make ends meet during all these years, there was one incident that she said that caught my attention. No, it wasnt about how she suffered from depression & tried to commit suicide so many times, but rather, it was her 6 year old daughter who when she was standing on the chair preparing to jump, kneeled down and said, " Please mum, dont go. i need you." just this two simple yet powerful sentences. her mum looked at her & came down from the chair, smiling.
Words, abeit it being just a simple i need you, can really impact people & change people's lives . though words cannot solve everything that her mum is going through/ anyone's problem, it was those words that caused her mum to be stronger now, to perservere, because she knew she had someone who cared. Someone who lighted her way through the dark alley in her life. Someone who she knew would always be right beside her, supporting her. And most importantly, someone who loved her in the midst of this cold world.
